just a minute

A very old, very British radio game show on the BBC.

Created by Ian Messiter, hosted by Nicholas Parsons. First aired in 1967, now has produced over 800 episodes from different venues across the UK.

Features four witty, articulate linguists (actors, comedians, famous people etc.) trying to talk on a subject without deviation, repetition or hesitation. Good laughs and a healthy amount of banter are almost always present. (often at the expense of the show's host)

plank minute

A unit of time based off of the plank, a painful core exercise which induces an extreme burning feeling in the abdomen. Just like the actual plank exercise, the plank minute seems to last forever.
Bill: Bro, chemistry felt so long today.
Mike: Yeah man, it was a whole-ass plank minute.

An especially long period of time; too long. Probably derived from the expression "cool minute."

Mummy Minute

Length of time taken by a woman to complete a seemingly simple task when others are waiting.

Inability of some women to forecast time taken to complete a task such as a loo break.
When a family is preparing to leave the house, and father and children are ready to leave, Mother isn't.

"I'll just be a minute..." she says. After a considerable wait, father will mutter, "A Mummy Minute".

Drunk minute

A unit of time that varies in length, in direct proportion to how drunk the person who just told you "In a minute" is, i.e. the drunker they are the longer it will be before they get to it.
Ben said he'd be here in a minute, but it's been half an hour. I guess he meant "in a drunk minute."
