family with selective affordability

That one family who can afford eating out, vacations, purchasing a new car, buying LEGO sets, action figures, textbooks, and DVDs, yet somehow still too broke to afford buying any new gaming console beyond PS1.

The Sherbrooke family is such family with selective affordability — they've got all the LEGO sets, action figures, textbooks, and DVDs but still rock a broken PS1 with no replacement like it's the latest console!

Blank Selection

Blank Selection is a term instituted by Wendy Beach (Editor-in-Chief, Wild Whispers Poetry Magazine) to replace the common ableist “blind selection” label still in use (referring to anonymous editorial processes), and is retained as no alternative terminology currently exists. Blank Selection as a new term replaces the ableist “blind selection” practice, where judges assess poems without knowing poets’ names. The name consciously parallels blank verse’s liberation from formalist restrictions, extending this ethos to combat restrictive language in editorial processes.

The poetry competition had a blank selection process to keep it fair.

selective double standard

A double standard based more on somebody's personal negative feelings than on fairness.

Lindsay the supervisor would order people she hated to do more work than everyone else (move the goalposts on them) and was quicker to try and get them fired if she hated them (a negative feeling towards them she would always deny having or say someone else felt that way if asked simply, plainly, and directly) whether they did their jobs as well as everyone else or not. She lived by the same kind of selective double standard she would always try and poke fun at others for having.

Selective Input

Most commonly used in digital parties such as Discord, Xbox, PS4. Selective input occurs when a person chooses only to speak when they feel comfortable, usually within a Safe Space. It is used by cowards, and people who cannot generate a unique comeback. A user of selective input is most often also a lurker.

Josh was just roasted and did not respond choosing to use selective input.

Patrick: Yeah he is pretty bad.

Gavin: Yeah, Patrick you are a Nutist.
Patrick: No I’m not!
