Two words one might utter to explain that the situation they are in or how shitty their life is. Usually used in a jokingly matter to bring laughs in to someone's despair.

Meta-Life 

Meta, just like metadata, or >background< data.
Life as in actual life.

Meta-life can be the process of looking at life in specific regards to seeing what is going on at any one time, without the persons involved's viewpoints.

Metalife can be used in multiple situations and can be really helpful when trying to discuss things you want to keep viewpoints out of. A synonym phrase would be 'down to earth talk'.

Okay. Let's meta-life for a second. We probably see this situation as problematic because we are angry right now.
