Popular loner

A person who is well known by many people, and pretty popular. They might have a few friends, but they don’t have any close friends, best friends, or friend group. All their ‘friends’ have their own best friends and friend groups, so the popular loner is usually alone. They usually don’t have anyone to talk to, but sometimes they do. People always assume they have best friends and are in a friend group though, so they want to keep that reputation

“Oh man she’s a popular loner, shes all by herself but everyone knows her”

“Damn why is he alone, i thought he’s popular? He has to be a popular loner”

Popular people are the unofficial 'leaders' of the school. Believe that sports, charisma, sex appeal, popular etc will carry them through college and life in general. Often end up in checkout, cleaning, bagging groceries etc.
