A conversational or behavioural device used to charm or fascinate. The device is most often used where a gentleman meets one or more ladies in a social situation and wants to impress.

Matt threw a particularly devastating charm grenade into the conversation last night. It took out half the ladies at the table.

The act of, when out with friends and having a particularly engaging conversation, coming out with a completely inane or otherwise offensive/distasteful/unfunny comment that is so heinous it kills the conversation dead.

a gent & his mates go to a mixed bar. A group of ladies flirt with them, but unfortunately one of the ladies is VERY ugly (for example, see whalefuck or sealfuck). She is "the grenade". Now, the chicks likely have a deal amongst themselves, if one isn't getting fucked, then they are all abstaining.
