Smells Like Teen Spirit

A phrase used to remark on the stupidity of teen, especially high school drama. It is used as a means to put things in perspective, often uttered by an observer of a pointless, fruitless argument that has to do with some aspect of dating.

Etymology: The term was sued in a completely different context by the early 90's grunge band, Nirvana.

Girl 1: "I saw you with my boy at the movies, you whore!"
Girl 2: "He don't like busted girls, bitch. That's why he's on my team now."
Observer: "Damn. Smells like teen spirit..."

1. A person not attached to social norms

2. A very blissful and compassionate person who can be oftentimes unpredictable.

3. A derogatory term for a person who prefers a lascivious lifestyle, most often sexually blissful, and unpredictive obnoxious behavior without the consequences for any bad decisions; see "irresponsible".

Friend 1: "My ex girlfriend said she is a free spirit."

Friend 2:"I am a free spirit is a quick and easy way of saying that she wants to do what she wants, when she wants, with whom she wants, to include sex, get drunk, and live her life regardless if it's morally hurtful or offensive to you."

Friend 1: "But she told me that she didn't have much experience...?"

Friend 2: "Dude, while you were at work, she blew like 3 dudes in the back of the 7-11."
