kAPPA kAPPA pSI

To be considered as an additional definition of "Kappa Kappa Psi" and •not• intended as a derogatory dig at the honor society of the same name.

The sound —first heard circa 1981— made by someone using a PC keyboard when they forget (for the umpteenth time) that the shift key, with Caps Lock engaged, doesn't behave like a typewriter's caps-lock/shift combination.

Of note, this was Bill Gate's first "productivity improvement" (of many, so-called) lofted on an unsuspecting public.

The kAPPA kAPPA pSI is most likely to be encountered when opting to let fingers fly over the keyboard while typing a familiar phrase, before realizng caps lock is engaged:

(starts typing) "tHE qUICK bROWN fOX…"
<sigh>
"Damn you Caps Lock!"

phi theta kappa

A 2-year fraternity/sorority/honors society that accepts anyone with a 3.5 GPA or higher, about 12-18 units, and some money to waste. Only reason to join is for one's application to a 4-year institute. Their "leadership conferences" are a joke.

Oh! I received an acceptance letter from Cornell purely on the basis that I'm in Phi Theta Kappa?

Use either word when there is an insane amount of Kappa or Omega greek life at a non-greek event. And they take over like its nobody's b'ness.

cucumber sushi. Very delicious and completely vegetarian. contains only sushi rice, nori (seaweed) and cucumbers.
is also named after a japanese spirit called a kappa.
