Rooting for the Dutch

"Rooting for the Dutch" is a term used when you know someone and/or something has no chance, but you still pull for it anyways. Created by rooting for the Dutch soccer and baseball teams which always play teams they have no business playing, and lose. Basically, you're rooting for the underdog who has no business even trying what they are about to attempt.

"Look at Dave trying to spit game, he has zero chance with that girl."
"Yeah I know. But hey, I'm still rooting for the Dutch."
