A society of people of different ethnicities, all generally maintaining their individual culture and language rather than assimilating into the culture around them.

In 1938 Scottish-Canadian writer John Murray Gibbon described Canada's developing multicultural society as a cultural mosaic to differentiate it from the perceived melting pot of the United States.

Doody Mosaic

The splattering of doody on the back of the toilet bowl, usually placed there by a man, which sometimes takes on the beautiful effect of an Italian Renaissance mosaic. It is particularly difficult to remove and sometimes needs to be scraped.

While cleaning the bathroom this morning, I noticed the doody mosaic eerily resembled Alfred Hitchcock smoking a cigar.
