One of the most amazing phenomenons I have ever, and probably ever will, encounter(ed) in my lifetime.
Harry Potter is not only a book or a series, or even just a fictional character. It's so much more then that to so many people.
Harry Potter is one of the reason some of our generation today are literate, and know the difference between your & you're. It's also the only book that I wouldn't mind giving up the internet in order to READ & FINISH it.
Not many books can do that.
There are a total of seven books and there are no future plans to write any more.
Harry Potter is one of the most well-written books I have ever read in my life. The imagination in it is amazing, and the plots keep you reading. It has unexpected twists. Reading the books in order, you'll see that there were the tiniest little hints as to what would happen later on in a different book.
And strangely enough, I love them for that. When you read something like that, your eyes widen and you go "Oh my god!!!" because when you first started this book before reading the others, it seemed like just an unnecessary point.
Harry Potter has also been made into movies. Amazingly enough, none of them have been completely butchered. They get the grasp pretty well I would say.
Anyway, this was really long.
Harry Potter is just amazing. I recommend it to everyone, of ALL ages.

A series about a boy wizard and the sexual tension between him and his enemy Draco Malfoy and is the easiest to write slash about.

A great series, that for some reason illiterate people like to compare to Lord of the Rings (while never reading either of the two series). No,it's not just for kids.true, the original plot line is directed to a younger audience, but there are plenty of older, more adult themes in all of the books.
Stupid Person:omg, lyke hary pott3rzz sooo gay!itz lyke a tottal ripoff of loTH!!!
Intelligent person who has read both series:Umm...no it's not.And Harry Potter is a completely different book from Lord of The Rings, even if they have similarities.
Stupid Person:*drool*

An average series of books that has made an astounding amount of money for it's author, JK Rowling. Though the books aren't bad, they lack originality... it's just chiché after cliché with a few "original" ideas that are completely random and have nothing to do with anything else.
The "Harry Potter" series shows a very obvious decline in JK Rowling's writing... the first one is moderately good, the second is OK, the third is average, and by the end of the series, JK Rowling is getting so full of herself that she attempts to sell the books by their popularity instead of adding actual content.

The latter books in the "Harry Potter" series are so think that they could probably have the pages ripped out and an entire unabridged dictionary could fit in the binding with room to spare.

Series of books that is getting a lot more criticism than it really needs. Sure, the plots or the writing can be peurile, but I think saying that they are a waste of time that could be spent understanding "true works of literature" is bullshit. Enjoy your books, unless you happen to be a high school english teacher and assign what the "critics" (a.k.a., 60 year old men who couldn't find a better job) claim is classic and complex.
Person: Harry Potter is childish and a piece of crap all around.
Other person: I wasn't paying attention, I was busy staring at the stick up your ass.

over-rated series of books about kids who do magic and battle bad guys.
They are incredibly popular and are often compared with Lord of The Rings
Anyone who even attempts to bag harry potter is immediately labeled an illiterate moron
