Foggling

Foggling (verb)
Pronunciation: /FOG-uhl-ing/

Definition:
A traditional English ceremony performed at the beginning of certain music conferences (especially the pretentious ones). Involves covering large bells in felt to “soften the tone and calm the spirit”, by striking them with a ceremonial object—traditionally a large wooden spoon later used used to stir the conference porridge.

Etymology:
Derived from Old French foglet — a participle meaning “to address the resonance,”
“Bruv, we’re running late—have they foggled yet?”

“The keynote was good, but the foggling ceremony went on for 45 minutes and I think I saw a man weep.”
