startled earwigs

A term used to describe an Irish Gaelic football team after they have been heavily defeated by the opposition. Coined in 2009 by Dublin manager Pat Gilroy after his team were annihilated by resurgent underdogs Kerry.

Dublin didn't appear to have a Plan A, never mind B or C. The manager, Pat Gilroy, would later maintain that his players had started the match like "startled earwigs".

Startle-fucked

When someone asks you a direct question that you are unprepared or incapable of giving a direct answer to and the period of time between the question and your formulated response is obvious to both parties; or when the result is unintentional and truly horrendous truth-telling.

Omg my new roommate and I were having such a good convo, out of the blue she asks me what dating site I use and she startle-fucked me into saying fetlife. Now she’s browsing my anal fisting videos in a way I’m entirely unprepared to deal with at the breakfast table.
