Afro Samurai

On the dark path of swordsmanship in a "futuristic" yet feudal Japan, it is said that the one who becomes the No. 1 warrior will rule the world with powers akin to a god. Only the No. 2 warrior is allowed to challenge the No. 1, but anyone can challenge the No. 2. The current No. 2, the Afro Samurai, travels the road looking for revenge on Justice, the man who murdered his father (who was then the No. 1) in front of him when he was just a boy, a skilled gunman who became the current No. 1 after defeating Afro's father.

Afro Samurai is a pretty gangsta anime.

Samurai Jack

A rather decent show by Genndy Tartakovsky, which is played on Cartoon Network. It's about a samurai called Jack (called so by a group of ghetto-speaking thugs in the second episode), and how he is ripped into the future where the almighty being Aku (japanese literal meaning for "evil") rules all, including various locations in the heavens.

Yes, it is a type of rip on anime, and there was even a character on an episode that looked like Jigen from Lupin III. But with its cinematic soundtrack & other interesting things, you really could do worse. In fact, the purpose of this show is NOT to rip on anime! It's called APPRECIATION OF CULTURES! Unfortunately, people just don't get it. -_-'

samurai showdown

a series of old school fighting games for the Neo-Geo. featured great graphics painted in what was for the time a very large and vivid pallette, and a wide range of basic and special moves for dozens of well illustrated characters, most of whom spoke whatever their native language would have been.

ie, a total classic.

Seven Samurai

One of the greatest films ever made. Involved Seven Samurai defending a small Japanese village from a large group of bandits. Directed by Akira Kurosawa.

Stars Toshiro Mifune and Takeshi Shimura who have appeared in other great Kurosawa films such as Yojimbo and Ikiru.

Seven Samurai - A movie for true film fans, not ignorant LOTR fans who refuse to acknowledge other films because deep down they know there are much better films such as this one.
