Publiciterotica

A type of exhibitionism intended to generate publicity. The act of exposing oneself in public, usually in front of paparazzi or members of the media, in an attempt to generate interest or sympathy. It is often done subtlety, by wearing clothing that becomes transparent when viewed under bright light or flashbulbs. Sometimes it is less subtle, maybe by wearing revealing clothing with no undergarments.

1) Paris Hilton has become (in)famous, primarily by publiciterotica. She first gained national attention when a home made pornographic film was released, and many suspected that she was not only a performer, but a willingly complicit in its release. From there, her glaring lack of personality and talent required that she take an unconventional route to stardom. By indulging in publiciterotica, "accidently" showing her naughty bits in front of plenty of cameras, she has generated interest in herself as a "celebrity socialite".

2) Former child actress, Lindsey Lohan, seemed to follow the same path as Hilton, indulging in publiciterotica (minus the porn tape), to break out of her "child star" status. On the internet, seemingly for months on end, pictures circulate of Ms. Lohan in see through tops, and "accidental" views of her crotch, etc.

3) In a bid to become less of a laughing stock and regain some of her sex symbol status, former singer Britney Spears has not only indulged in publiciterotica, but has actually befriended Lohan & Hilton, and on certain websites, most notably WWTDD, the three have been dubbed "The Three Skankateers".

Publicity Stunt

Doing or saying something simply to create attention.

WB pulled a publicity stunt rebooting Superman seeming for no other reason then to change the character's ethnicity. Especially true as current actor, Henry Cavill, was universally loved in the role and had one highly successful solo movie.
