The incorrect word for pedantry. Used by ignorant people trying to sound smart by putting an "-ism" at the end of any word to make it a noun.

one who acts in the role as teacher/lecturer, often without invitation. Usually considered pejorative.

Pointing out unnecessary minutiae in order to call attention to one's pretentiousness.

I suppose you can forgive them because part of their job is paying attention to detail, but you best be pedantic as fuck if you want to fit in on an engineering team.
