Overthear (or overtheard). We all know those kinds of rumors or urban legends someone overhears from a friend of a friend. Overthear is a derived from overhear. Pronunciation varies and "thear" could be either hear or their.
Someone else can overhear it, but by the time it gets to my ears, I will overthear it. I have overtheard it. It should be treated as theard party information.
