While a missunderstanding sometimes results in a missed opportunity for a greater understanding, it is also a partially justified skepticism, since mansplainers are frequently overconfident in their beliefs. Just as mansplaining is now more broadly understood to not exclusively apply to men “splaining” to women, men can also missunderstand.
If you would stop mansplaining for a minute and talk to me like an intelligent adult, I would not be be in a better position to not missunderstand your valid points (assuming there are any).
