misanthropy

1. A practice used by some miserable idiot with no friends who hates mankind because s/he needs to get out more, get laid, etc.

2. An attitude taken by your typical animal-rights activist who has crossed the line beyond all hope of redemption, even reduced to violence against humanity for the unrealistic and brainless obsession with animals who they know nothing about, and who couldn't give a sh*t about them.

3. The reason why some warped people are turned on by animals.

4. A mindset which tricks the user into thinking that they're superior/cleverer/more thoughtful than most of their fellow man, when they're simply taking the easy route.

5. The attitude of a hypocrite who clearly has no decent understanding of the world, and is probably just as bad/sadistic/unpleasant as their fellow man whom they moan and whine about.

6. A sign that you've been hanging around/watching animals for too long, and not understanding them long enough.

7. An obvious signal that someone is an alien in a very poor disguise (probably).
Misanthrope: I HATE HUMANITY! LIONS ARE SO CUTE AND NOBLE WHILE WE ARE EVIL! WE ARE A PESTILENCE! BECAUSE WE EAT MEAT WHEN WE MUSTN'T!

Me: Erm, if you hate us so much, why don't you contribute to our demise and hang yourself?

Misanthrope: Ermmm.....

Me: Yeah. Didn't think so

Joule Misanthropy

The avoidance of using the Joule as a unit of energy. Sometimes used equivocally, especially in the United States, in describing a strong preference for the use of the calorie. Specifically, Joule Misanthropy refers to those who castigate or otherwise judge humans who do express energy as joules. Joule Misanthropists are known as being particularly intransigent in their anti-joule stance.

This inclination and its relatively widespread popularity are thought to have been originated by those who opposed the popularity of James Prescott Joule. This movement probably began after Joule famously spurned William Thomson (later Lord Kelvin); the two had planned an experiment together, which Joule then neglected in favor of marriage and a honeymoon. Although essentially left standing at the flask, Lord Kelvin understood and offered his congratulations to the happy couple. However, Kelvin supporters were enraged and began an anti-Joule campaign. This caught hold particularly in the Americas, probably due the residual anti-English sentiment of the time.

Formally, Joule Misanthropy is defined as the the use of a unit of energy other than the joule in a context in which the use of said unit would generally be considered illogical or not practical. For example, expressing the energy required by a human to lift a small object in electronvolts would constitute Joule Misanthropy.
"Hey, I heard Patty was accepted to that prestigious US institution!"

"Yes, but he has decided not to attend due to the widespread Joule Misanthropy there."

"That's a shame. I can't believe people can still be so small minded in the 21st century."

homo-misanthropy

The hatred of homosexuals. To be used in place of homophobia (meaning irrational fear of homosexuals), which is not always an accurate word to use to describe how some people feel about homosexuals.
A lot of college students display shameless homo-misanthropy. They should know better, but they don't.

The New Misanthropy

A novel condition in which the sufferer looks upon approaching human beings as threats, just for breathing, and wants them to burn in hell.
What was this moron, this utter fool, coming toward her with his mouth covered and his fucking nostrils exposed?! He was human scum, a killer, and the sight of him filled her with revulsion. At one time she might have found him attractive. But now? Now she wanted to smash him, hard, but that would entail proximity, the last thing she'd ever want to share with another person. She knew she'd contracted The New Misanthropy, but it was a damn sight better than Covid.
