When urban mid-westerners use this phrase they are referring to Larry Hoover, the founder of Gangster Disicples and Folk Nation out of Chicago IL. This is used in place of "on god", placing reverence in Larry.

Larry is put into many words. He is very confident! He'll do a little bragging, but all you can do is smile. He is the sweetest man ever. A friend who can be your best friend. He loves video games and absolutely adores them. He is very athletic in sports such as tennis, golf and track. He is a fast runner and you couldn't catch him... even with a car. He will support you, no matter what. He is a Christian and stands for Christ and He will make you laugh and always comes toward you with a smile. Once you have a Larry in your life, you can't let him go.
