Something which is disgusting, grisly, or gruesome - but both in spite of and because of that, those who gaze upon it find themselves unable to look away for a long period of time, and may even find themselves watching it again and again, if possible.

There was always something morbidly hypnotic about the way my father would use a knife to scrape the black stuff from under his toenail, wipe it on his knee, and repeat, until all nine toes were scraped clean.

When autistic folks and idiot savants claim that hours-long meditation on the seemingly random or sacred digits of the number π puts them in some kind of trance, which allows their mind’s eye to see sexy numerical patterns or relationships, or to visualize kaleidoscopic geometric shapes in higher dimensions.

Number theorists obsessed with the properties of π love to indulge themselves in hypnotic pi activities, hoping to experience a few aha! moments, which could help them secure early tenure thanks to some breakthrough results or elegant proofs on pi that grace the pages of reputable math journals.

Popularised by the life and times of internet celebrity hypnotic4502, "hypnotic" is slang for a 35+ year old male who is going absolutely no where in life and, due to this, spends the majority of his time on the internet.
Common traits of "hypnotics" include: having horrible taste in music, having an internet girlfriend (who dumps him within the month for being clingy), and writing essay length trolls that nobody reads on various subjects such as religion.

That guy certainly is a hypnotic! He must lead a particularly pathetic life.

It is when a white person who usually listens to country, pop, rock, (white music) and hears a few black urban tunes and thinks they are cool, and then starts to really get into R&B and Hip-hop. She also starts to use ghetto slang, and starts to rap, dance hip-hop, and become what is basically is a wigger.

Yeah I used to listen to country, and now I heard this Nelly song ft. Tim McGraw on the country station and I think it's awesome. WTF!!! Now I'm listening to hip-hop. I must been hipnotized.
