Any boyfriend, good or bad. Gets at the irrational hatred of guts men naturally feel towards any man who is the boyfriend of any woman. Still just means boyfriend though, and can be used endearingly or in good fun, but always will have, at least sarcastic, subtext of 'I'm quietly wishing for your downfall.'

Evelyn's new asshole's name is Anthony. They're really sweet together. He's a great boyfriend.
