period

1. A monthly cycle a female goes through, where the lining from the uterus is shed through the vagina. Overall, periods are what enable a woman to produce children; before receiving her firt period, she is unable to. Usually, the period lasts anywhere from 2 to 7 days, and it starts when a girl is usually aged 10 to 14. Women get their monthy period untill around 50 or 60. Although some women can get moody, and receive upper leg cramps and tender breasts throughout their period, not every woman experiences this.

2. Punctuation used to indicate the end of a sentence. The period looks like so; . and can be replaced by an exclamation mark or question mark, which express different emotions in a sentence. A period shows a regular sentence, whereas an exlcamation mark shows surprize or excitement, and a question mark is placed after a question.

3. A certain length of time. "Period" overall is used to describe time; such as "a period of pain." "Span", such as a "span of 4 hours" is a synonym for period.

mourning period

Following a break up, the mourning period is a phase of time where neither party is sexually active with another person. They also may not go on dates with other people. This allows time for both parties to reflect and recuperate upon their breakup. Normally this period of time is three weeks.

Friend Request Waiting Period

The time after someone requests to be your friend on Facebook or some other social media site. This is a lag period in which the invitee receives the offer, contemplates, evaluates the person's looks, number of mutual friends, other hot friends, and general demeanor before accepting the request. This period is very similar to the "two day rule" when getting someone's digits. By stretching the friend request waiting period ever so slightly, it appears that you are not so desperate for a new friend addition.

Guy 1: "Yo I just became friends with this smoking hot chick other day. You should add her and look at her photos."

Guy 2: "Already tried to add her after I saw you became friends with her. She hasn't accepted my request yet."

Guy 1: "Damn. You must be in the friend request waiting period.... good luck with all that."
