2. To proceed cautiously when one foresees a perilous situation.

Ex 1: Through my instictive nature I had forseen an enemy behind the approaching corner, so I cut the pie. So, I prefired him like POW, ONE D. SIT THE FUCK DOWN KID.

Ex 2: After a long day in the cubicle, I knew my boss was going to throw me more paperwork so I cut the pie and left early
