Trey Eight

Trey Eight is a rap term for a .38 bullet, most commonly used in Carbines, Pistols and Revolvers. It is referenced in Ice Cube's "Check Yo Self", Obie Trice's "There They Go", Sheek Louch's "Turn it up", Eminem's "Greatest", Black Market Militia's "The Struggle", and Hell Razah's "Article One", among others. It is often used when referring to drive-by shootings, as in "Check Yo Self" and "Turn it up", and Eminem uses it in reference to the Mandalay Bay shooting in Las Vegas.

"You better shut your mouth before I show you my Trey Eight."

A code used by law enforcement to indicate that a homicide has occurred. This term has been made popular by rap and hip-hop artists, especially those from the genre of gangsta rap.

1. The spanish dollar, manufactured in Mexico and Bolivia, made from silver from the spanish empire. The 'eight' refers to the number of pieces into which each coin could be cut in order to give change. The pirate connotation comes from the plundering of said pieces on the spanish main.
