Anime Phase

This is a phase where a person gets themselves hooked up, nay, OBSESSED with anime, its big sister, manga, perhaps along with some other aspects of Japanese pop culture (ie. pop music, light novels). Some signs of it are:
1. Drawing in an anime/manga art style
2. Listening to anime/J-Pop songs, usually with little to no knowledge of Japanese
3. Viewing anime pictures in one's spare time
4. Writing anime fanfics (as are some teenagers wont to do)
Usually this phase happens in one's teens, but there are some people who are still into anime, as much there are older people who would get themselves hooked up into anime!

There are lots of crazy things that I'll let Peter get away with. I even held my tongue when he went through that anime phase!

Anime Poisoning

A symptom caused by over-exposure to anime. Often results in people dressing up as characters. (Not for Halloween, just for general life) Victims will also use random mispronounced Japanese words in conversation. They will eat sushi or noodles for every meal, have an unhealthy obsession with ninjas, draw pictures of characters, and will insist on asking you if you like certain animes. Answering 'No.' will most certainly result in being called 'a giant super-baka'. They often write stories featuring anime characters in oddly sexual situations. Some will cary around a notebook which they genuinely believe has the power to kill. (If this were true, there would be very little sufferers from Anime Poisoning. As they'd all be dead.)

Best prescribed treatment is to punch the affected person in the face. Repeat until cured or dead, whichever comes first.

The following examples are all real situations. They have happened before and most likely will happen again.

Anime Poisoned Girl: Look at me! I'm not sitting in a normal way! I must be L! That makes me super-kawaii!
Me: Please die.

Fat girl in store: They don't have any cosplay wigs. This sucks, let's go.
I laughed uncontrollably. Fortunately, I hid behind a book.

Overheard in internet café: Look, Suzie-chan! They got DeiSasu Yaoi on this site!
Someone else: Shut up.

Stranger at school: Hey! Do you like Naruto?!
Me: No. I don't even know you. Please fuck off.
Stranger: Wow, you must be such a baka. Naruto for the win! It's kakkoii.
Me: Ugh.

Anime Poisoning is a deadly disease. Stamp it out.

anime

a common term for japanese animation, usually based off of manga (japanese graphic novels). it often recieves hate here in the western world because some people havent really seen it or they think all animation is for children. usually, with the exception of studio bones, the animation itself is very lack-luster. something comon i've read here on urban dictionary is that its, "the legal way to jerk it to an 8 year old.", this is not true, while many anime's do actually have quite a bit of sexual humor, you cant call it that. however it has recieved much popularity here for the teenage demographic as well. also another thing is people known as weeaboo, people who get WAAAAAAAAAY over obsessive over anime, and otaku, the japanese term for a geek, or in america's case, people who are really into anime but dont exactly cross into weeaboo terratory, are shut ins with no life, again not true.

guy: hey lets go watch some cowboy bebop.

anime hater: yeah its the only one of those animes thats actually any good

Anime convention

The best place to go people watching. Anime conventions are the type of place where people will stand at the bottom of an escalator and gather hugs for three hours. People dress up in the most outrageous of outfits, including, but not limited to, kimonos, Japanese school uniforms, tutus, Victorian dresses or suits, and various cosplay outfits.
While not all attendees are nerds, geeks or the like there are a great many, and are very fun to talk to. As are most other convention people.
While there are planned activities and viewings, convention people are very creative, and have started multi level capture the flag games on multiple occasions.
Bottom line, conventions are funner than they seem. Especially while trying not to get caught by the retired volunteers that run the place.

That anime convention was SO fun last night!
I know right, too bad they make minors leave at 2am.

Anime Freak

(n.) A person who loves anime, manga and is even willing to cosplay for a convention as their favorite character, often fan girls/ fan boys about characters. Nice ppl, but a little crazy at times, tend to get wrapped up in storylines.
