A beautiful continent bursting at he seams with culture and heritage. Africa's been through a lot but our 2010 World Cup song was still the biggest bop of the century.

I'd love to take a trip to Africa one day.

Afro-Rican

Afro-Ricans are Puerto Ricans who are black and of African ancestry with little to no white ancestry (unlike the majority of Puerto Ricans). A lot of African ancestry in Puerto Rico actually comes via the other Caribbean islands, the Lesser Antilles.

It is commonly accepted that the Yoruba people of Nigeria were the main African group in Puerto Rico.

Afro-Rican refers to the African components of Puerto Rican culture, primarily in music (Bomba, Plena, Salsa) and food (plantains, mango).

The Afro-Rican identity and culture is not limited to the very few pure blacks or to the a lot more numerous mixed blacks. Even the whiter Puerto Ricans and the really and undoubtedly white Puerto Ricans partake of the African components of the culture.

Afropolitan

An African who was educated in the US or Europe and spends a significant amount of time in those parts of the world.

It doesn't matter whether they are born abroad or not; the important thing is their global perspective on issues, as well as their mixed cultural identity.

Kofi: Well, I was born in Ghana but have lived in New York for the past fifteen years, so I'm a true Afropolitan. I eat fufu with as much dexterity as I eat a philly cheese steak!

The pioneers of House before house was cool. The full name of the group is called Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force. This group paved the way for other house (and hip hop greats) like Grandmaster Flash. Imitated by some; replicated by none. Go Download some NOW!
