digg effect

Derived from slashdot effect, an insane increase in traffic after a link to a news article is promoted to the digg.com front page. This is sort of like an unintentional DDOS attack, but sometimes the increased traffic (and ad exposure) causes webmasters and bloggers to post links to their sites on digg.
The digg effect will usually not have much of an effect on larger websites but small websites may be shut down quickly due to the server not being able to cope with the high amount of requests or because all of their bandwidth is consumed.

I wanted ad clicks so I submitted my copied blog post to digg. It got promoted and my website was shut down due to the digg effect.

The Benjamin Walker Effect

The phenomenon of when a semi-attractive person demonstrates a talent that in turn makes said person extremely hot.
Named after the Broadway actor Benjamin Walker and his singing abilities.

Steps follow as such:
1.Bob is ok-attractive, but maybe not your type
2.Bob starts to sing/act/draw/ect. with amazing skill
3.Suddenly Bob looks EXTREMELY attractive despite his initial lack of appeal
4.You have just experienced The Benjamin Walker Effect

A condition where a person so dumb, that he fails to realise how dumb he actually is. Frankly, lacking the competence to identify incompetence - often resulting is immense self-confidence and talking massive cock.

The Chica Effect

the sudden trance you're put in when a beautiful girl looks into your eyes, and it's not something that happens often cause you know when her eye contact has meaning and love behind it.

Andy: So I was walkin down the street and I got attacked by radioactive monkeys!!!
Dre: No Way Dawg!
(beautiful girl walks by and makes eye contact)

Halo effect

(Noun) Also known as pretty privilege. A well-documented phenomenon in which human perception of a person’s character/trustworthiness is impacted by that person’s physical attractiveness/beauty. Studies found that when two focus groups were each shown a photo of a different person (one beautiful, one not), and shown an identical list of crimes that person committed, the focus group (or “jury”) gave the beautiful person a lighter sentence.

“Wow, that cop was so nice to me! I was speeding by 20, and he let me off with a warning!”
“It’s probably because you’re pretty.”

The Camilla Effect

The effect of a woman being eternally adored by a man because she is an ideal woman, rather than a perfect beauty. This term was coined in honor of Camilla Parker-Bowles, who has kept Prince Charles completely captivated for 40 years.

My friend Andrew just emailed me a pic of a woman he knew in college whom he claimed looked like a model back then and is just as hot as she was 30 years ago. All I saw was a middle-aged woman with a sensible haircut, dark glasses and wrinkles. Must be The Camilla Effect.
