gap room

A room (usually underground) between two buildings that exists for the purpose of running power, water, steam, telecoms, trains, or other services between buildings or locations. Not specifically a part of one of the buildings or the other. This room may also serve the purpose of smoothing out the geometry differences between two buildings.
