A losing streak a successfull MLB team suffers during September, the final month of the regular season. In most cases, it ends in the team missing the playoffs in heartbreaking fashion.

The 1969 Chicago Cubs and the 2007 New York Mets were playoff shoo-ins before suffering Slumptembers to end what were once successful regular seasons. Ultimately, both teams missed the playoffs and will always be remembered for their late season collapses.

This is a generally derogatory term, used in the construction industry to describe construction special inspectors, and implies a lack of sophistication and experience with such work.
