Hot Topic is a store where a medley of goths (and/or wannabe goths), punks (and/or wannabe punks), and {insert any other stupid stereo-types you can think of}, etc. dwell. Usually you'll see some of them actually standing in front of the store rather than shopping in it, but that's only because they have no lives.

Every time I walk by HT there are always the same superficial dullards wondering around in either all black, some queer punk pants (you know, those that are cut right under the knee), or some in fruity colors i.e. yellow and stripes. I almost feel sorry for them but I've decided I shouldn't sink that low.

Overall, the store is pretty shitty. Nothing exclusive and all over-priced. Anyways, try to shun all posers who shop there. They've been known to lower your I.Q.
Typical HT consumer: Man, being an anarchist would be great! I know! I'll start by shopping at Hot Topic!

Me: Lesbian porn sure is awesome. I think I might go to FYE and buy some.

Typical HT consumer: Dude! That is like mad gay! Hail Lussiff--whatever that guy's name is.

'rebellious' store owned by The Gap. ultra-expensive and no better than thrift stores. Intended for 13 year old girls that are trying to express their creativity and rebellion with a credit card and the same fucking clothes as everyone else.
Hot Topics clothes are made in sweatshops. assembled by underpaid/overworked small children in Mexico/Asia.

Store where rebellious teenieboppers max out mommy's credit cards and call themselves either "punk" "emo" or "goth".

A store where teens go to express their rebellion against "THE MAN" and individuality and nonconformity by spending $75 on the same thing all there friends are wearing.

The store sells upon stereotypes of a certain genre or scene and builds a fashion base around it.

They claim to be "Everything About the Music" yet sell mainly Nintendo retro and otaku based shirts. While they do have a large array of band shirts, atleast 10 of them are by the same band, whichever is most marketable at the time.

Also there you can find a good deal of "anarchy" items for anywhere from $10-25.

In 2004 alone, Hot Topic's revenue was $656,470,000.

If you really want to be rebellious and original, pick up a needle and thread and hit up a thrift store.
Bob is rebellious because he shops at Hot Topic to be different and an individual unlike the fashion sheep of the jocks and preps. However, Hot Topic is just as popular as The Gap or Abercrombie. So instead of rebelling, you are simply conforming to Orv Madden's empire.

It's a store, it's not just for people who are posers and is actually a great place to purchase band t-shirts. Most people say it's the emo equivalent to Abercrombie, and this is true, because Abercrombie and Hot Topic are owned by the same damn company!
I went to Hot Topic to buy a band shirt.

fairly expensive store which sells things like spikes, stickers, and stuff like that. fairly good if you're into that stuff. place where preps can go and act punk, where punks can go and get poser-punk stuff, and where others can go and get whatever because they don't really care, they just like it. it's possible. honest
"y'know that place hot topic? it's such an avril lavigne store!" "well...yeah. avril DOES shop there. but does that make it a poser store, even if she is one?" "yeah." "idiot."
A brand we don't have here.
A place I wanna go to buy a couple of stuff. No, not to be punk, but because i LIKE THEM.
Whatever you buy... someone else, somewhere else would have it. unless you made it yourself with cloth you got in a third worl country... no, you are not different from everybody else. period
