The band officially split in 2003 due to conflicts between members. Phil Anselmo, in the throes of a heroin addiction, started lashing out at other members. Anselmo left the band for other projects, such as Superjoint Ritual and Down. After 2 years, brothers Vinnie and Dimebag eventually moved on and went on to form Damageplan.
On December 8, 2004, while performing with Damageplan at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag Darrell Abbott was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale (ex-marine). Abbott was shot a total of five times, at point-blank range in the back of the head. He was 38 years old.

They’re reserved and observant and ready to spill the tea when the time is right. Amazing friend to have around and reliable. Rumor has it they tend to be very clumsy and might trip and fall face first in the most random places. Your typical “mom” in terms of counseling and advice. Boys gotta he cautious around a Damaris, one wrong move or word say “sayonara” to your confidence, cuz it’s about to go down with her criticisms and flaw picking.
