(n.) Rule of dating etiquette that dictates whether or not you can date a prospective girl/boy without being a kiddy-diddler. It states that if your prospective mate could recite the alphabet by the time you were born, they're too old to pursue a romantic relationship with.

Often seen as a stricter alternative to the half your age plus 7 rule.

Rachel wanted to be Jess's girlfriend, but the ABC rule prevented her from doing so.
