The kind of guy who expresses great interest, flirts, dishes out sexual innuendo, but never actually follows through in getting to know a girl. Maintains just enough contact that she doesn't forget who he is.

"Hey, I heard from that gym guy today."
"The one you had that one drink with six weeks ago??"
"Yeah, he texted me!"
"Did he ask you out?"
"No, but he asked me if I was watching the game tonight."
"Did he invite you to watch it with him?"
" . . . . No?"
"Girl, block his number. He's never gonna follow through. He's just a maintainer."

1. Any outsider or member of a sub culture that is willing to do anything to be accepted and be identified as mainstream.
2. A member of a sub culture whose natural likes lean toward mainstream tastes.

Dude, I saw Tyrone, the other day at the Ratchet Club chatting up some debutantes. I didn't know he was a mainstreamer.

That music isn't mainstream, but it's not really indie either. It's mainstream alternative.

One who listens to Nirvana, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Nickelback, Green Day, System of a Down, Atreyu, Korn, Incubus, Hawthorne Heights etc.

Mainstreamers listen to Mainstream Rock, know nothing about Music and usually think Nirvana are grunge, and My Chemical Romance are Emo.

Mainstreamers are quite fond of Nirvana.
