garage rock of the 2000s. Labeled by the media as garage rock revival for it gaining mainstream interest again. but there have been different revivals in garage rock going threw the 50s,60s,70s. Starting around 2000 to 2001. Bands like the strokes,the white stripes,the hives and the vines are the first four bands to get mainstream success. This sound is on the alt-rock side of things so with there success they thankfully kicked nu-metal off the alt-rock stations. Also imo along with post-punk revival the best rock genres of the 2000s.

2000s kid

Someone who had majority of their childhood years (about age 3-12) in the decade of the 2000s. This is some born from about 1992/3-2001/2. However people born in 1993 and a few years later can remember the 90s but majority of the childhood still unfortunately resides in the 2000s. Likewise, someone born in 2002 and a few years before actually have their childhood overlap into the 2010s!, but majority of their childhood is in the 2000s. This means the main 2000s kids are born between 1995-1998

John is born on the 1st January 1997 so is a prime 2000s kid as he was age 3-12 for the ENTIRE decade. Jackie born on 22nd December 1992 is a 90s/2000s hybrid but mostly a 2000s kid like John. Jack born on August 11th 2001 is a 2000s/2010s kid hybrid but mostly a 2000s kid. Eva born September 2nd 2006 is a 2010s kid.

2000s 

Shitty decade that will be laughed at much like the 80's. It is very similar to the 80's but less original.

.It is not the "hipster decade" or the decade of indie rock. Most people listen to shitty bling rap, generic pseudo emo/mall punk, stupid brain dead pop or at the end of the decade, ear bleedingly bad fusions of all of those styles a la Brokencyde.

.Everyone tends to become "escapists" which means watch there stupid reality shows, partaaay a lot and watch overrated youtube "celebrities" like Fred while the world crumbles around them.

.Gays are not becoming more accepted, if they were they would be allowed to marry in California and other places.

.Most of the decade is spent with the worst President ever George Bush who America elected TWICE just to show you how stupid America has become in the new decade.

.TV is mostly beyond stupid reality shows and teeny bopper Disney bullshit.

.Nearly every single counterculture movement or non-mainstream music style has been commercialized from punk to emo to indie.

There are some good things about 2000's however.

.In the later half of the decade movies started making a comeback from the shitty sequel and remake period early on with some will be classics like Juno, The Dark Knight and the works of Judd Apatow.

.People become somewhat more environmentally conscious although we still have a ways to go.

.Non-mainstream musical styles like indie rock have become more available via internet radio.

.In the later half of the decade, we elected President Obama who seems at least competent.

.Video games are becoming more diverse with the rise of casual games and indie games.

"The 2000s are a mostly shitty decade defined by bad music, bad movies, bad politics, bad TV and overall shallowness and stupidity. Lets hope the 2010s are better."

2000s TV Show 

Any show from the 2000s decade. Any show that also aired in the late 1990s but continued auring in the 2000s counts too (for example, Will & Grace aired in 1998, but had more episodes in the 2000s, making it part of the 2000s decade mostly).

The most notable 2000s shows include Breaking Bad, The Office, SpongeBob SquarePants, Family Guy, South Park, Doctor Who (2005), Will & Grace, Grey's Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, The Sopranos, Malcolm in the Middle, Six Feet Under, Dexter and Supernatural.

I hate when people tell me Family Guy is a 90s TV show just because it aired in 1999. While it technically is, it's mostly a 2000s TV show considering how it aired most of its episodes in the 2000s. That would be like saying The Simpsons is an 80s TV show even though the first episode aired in December of 1989 and the majority of the episodes aired in the 1990s.
