A caricature of a communist. A stereotype used in right-wing soyjak memes. They uncritically support everything socialist countries did, hate America to a point they would side with those they normally wouldn't, like Russia or Iran.
the label "tankie" is used as an insult. it effectively replaced "commie" since communists actually identify as communists and wouldn't take offense being called commies.
nowadays tankie has become an umbrella term the right uses for "everyone i don't like" on par with "sjw" or "woke". sometimes even non-communist leftists get called tankies or rightists who oppose american imperialism
