The Homney rule is that just because a person is from a state doesn’t mean they will win it in a presidential election. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in the presidential election of
2012, lost his
home state to incumbent Barack
Obama. This is mainly due to Massachusetts being a “Solid
Blue” state for democrats since around 1960. The Homney Rule also applies to Al Gore in 2000 and many other presidential candidates throughout history. The Rule’s name is in reference to HOme state and mitt roMNEY.
