The name used in a Fish and Chip shop for an item with Chips (fries). The chips part means Supper.
It is mainly used in West Scotland but can be used Scotland Wide except around the English border regions

Can I have a Fish Supper or Smoked Sausage supper.

This translates to Can I have Fish and Chips or Smokes sausage and Chips.

According to Websters, a meal eaten late in the evening.
Supper is the main meal of the day. Most commonly misunderstood by ignorant people as dinner. Dinner was defined by Webster as a meal eaten in the middle of the day. Many cafe's, restaurants in America were known for their dinners which were served during the hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many were actually named the Dinner Bell (meaning lunch)

Schools actually called the midday meal as dinner time.
Supper was referred to as the meal at the end of the day. Lunch was something you brought from home. Dinner was something prepared for you.

The meal generally aten last in the day, around 6:00 pm. sometimes steak, sometimes potatoes, sometimes burgers, sometimes carrots, sometimes bread and butter. But often chicken. mmm chicken.

We had supper and then watched the evening movie.
