Additionally, due to the previously mentioned pain of the narrative, readers, after finishing this emotional hell, have severe emotional reactions to seemingly harmless phrases. For example, "I can dig Elvis," "See you then," and even the three little words, "I love you," bring on a wave of uncontrollable pain. Those who have read it share common masochism, inability to listen to the music of Elvis Presley, and fear of beaches.
