To stare off in another direction from the party you are interacting with, preferably to a third party, with a blank or mildly surprised look on your face to emphasize the ridiculousness of your conversation and/or situation with the first party.
The bridesmaid was so drunk and loud during the toast that I had to throw a Halpert to guests at another table.
After the professor stated the due date for the assignment, the undergrad asked when the assignment was due. The professor promptly threw a Halpert to the rest of the class.

A psychological compulsion in which the individual reacts to a stressful situation by looking sarcastically at a camera, real or imaginary. Named after the fictional character, Jim Halpert of the US Office.
"What the hell are you looking at?"
"I don't know, I... thought there was a camera..."
"Dude, you might have Halpert's disease."

A character from the NBC show The Office. Portrayed by John Krasinski. Based off Tim Canterbury from the original British BBC show. Hottest fictional character ever.

Acted by John Krasinski, Jim Halpert is a character on The Office based on Tim Canterbury from the original British show. Perhaps the only "normal" and rather sane and intelligent person in the office run by regional manager Michael Scott, Jim spends his time playing pranks on annoying coworker Dwight Schrute and flirting with receptionist and later saleswoman Pam Halpert (née Beesly).
