crimestop

Newspeak word, and one of the central pillars of Ingsoc. Crimestop refers to the ability to stop short of any thought that might be heretical or unorthodox before it is even thought, as if by instinct. It is the ability to misunderstand analogies, fail to perceive logical errors, and be repelled or bored by any train of thought or conversation that might be inimical to Ingsoc. Of course, this process is not unique to Ingsoc, and has been and still is applied by most religious and political extremists.

Crimestop is not stupidity, or at least not natural stupidity. It is the ability to deliberately retard one's own intelligence, and, of course, to forget the process of doing it by doublethink.

Existential Crisis

A period in which you contemplate the meaning of life, your purpose in life, the inevitability of death, etc.

This can last from a few minutes up to a month. Best done lying on your tummy face down on a flat surface (usually the ground) with hands by sides. Can occur at any time during the day.

Most commonly occurs among people in their 20s as they have just become free and are living their own lives and making decisions which will impact them in the long run.

Crisis Wall Management

(noun) - Posting a message on facebook that initiates a wall war between two friends that do not know each other which compels the poster to delete posts, send instant messages and texts to quell the skirmish.

Larry: Wow! What's was up with your post last night? You certainly had Jody and Lisa catfighting on your wall.

Vince: Yeah, I had to partake in some serious crisis wall management.

mid-teens crisis

Refers to the sense of panic that occasionally surfaces in adolescents as a result of the feeling of not having done enough, whether it is regarding their academic or social life. Typically experienced around the ages of 15 to 16. Or, alternatively, could also refer to a feeling of worthlessness experienced around this age, but is not necessarily the result of depression.

Many teenagers experience a mid-teens crisis the summer before the eleventh grade as the reality of high-school graduation and preparation dawns on them.

A variation of half-life and quarter-life crises, due to copious amounts of stress and high school struggles, you are subjected to questions such as "Why am I trying?", "What's the point of going to a good college?" "what will happen if I bomb my AP and SAT exams?"

Person 1: I just failed my calculus exam, so my grade dropped to a C, what is life.
