to mysteriously disappear or die with lots of circumstantial evidence attached to said disappearance or death

"hi has anybody seen anything of billy lately?? It's like weeks since I seen him or heard anything from him I'm starting to get a bit worried surely someone has seen him?"

Random voice in pub:
"Waste of time looking for him mate was on the news last week - he got "Clintoned" and they are still looking for his laptop!
