Arkham Subreddit Effect

When a subreddit randomly goes batshit insane, with stupid shitposts and genuinely insane people. Originally from r/batmarkham, hence the name.
Guy 1: All of my favorite subreddits are being flooded with stupid shitposts. What the fuck does "is he stupid?" even mean!?

Guy 2: Blame the Arkham Subreddit Effect...

Guy 1: Why?

Guy 2: Just take a stroll through r/batmanarkham and come back after 10 seconds.

Read the Subreddit

The skill of quickly grasping the specific etiquette, inside knowledge, humor style, and ideological bent of a particular subreddit before posting or commenting. Each subreddit is a mini-nation with its own constitution (rules) and culture. This means checking the sidebar, browsing top/all-time posts, and understanding whether the community prefers earnest discussion, sarcastic one-liners, highly technical answers, or pure absurdist humor.
Example: Posting a sincere, beginner question about film technique in r/moviescirclejerk (a satire subreddit) will get you mercilessly mocked because you failed to Read the Subreddit. Conversely, posting an ironic meme in the serious, academic r/AskHistorians will get it instantly deleted. Survival depends on this cultural calibration.
The best subreddit in all of Reddit. 'Nuff sed.

Linking subreddits outside of Reddit

Subreddits should only be linked in reddit. It's very cringy to do it outside of reddit. You'll see this very often on Youtube comment sections anyway due to the upsurge of dumbass YouTubers narrating various subreddits, with their main audience being kids who have never actually been on Reddit before.

When I see people act this way I reply with "r/thisisntreddit"
Linking Subreddits outside of Reddit
Youtube comments:

Person 1: Bro the 2013 Cat in the Hat is the best movie ever, it deserves to be the highest rated film

Person 2: Bruh that film sucks

Non Redditor: r/whoosh

Person 2: Don't link subreddits outside of reddit, you didn't even spell it right.
