A nickname for Cape Town, South Africa, meaning, loosely, "Sleepy Town". It is a play on the Afrikaans name for Cape Town, "Kaapstad", and the Afrikaans word for sleep, "slaap". Cape Town or The Mother City is often considered to have a slow, chilled-out pace of life (especially when compared to the commercial heart of South Africa, Johannesburg).
