six degrees of separation

The theory that any two people in the world are connected in some way by no more than six people.

Using sexual contact as an example: when one has contact with another person, contact is effectively made with every person that person has come into contact with, and every person those people have come into contact with and so on.

Separation Stall

In the men's bathroom, a urinal left empty between two men so as to prevent the increase of awkwardness

Steve - "You know what a separation stall is, right?"

Rob - "Yeah. Why?"

Steve - "Well, I was using a urinal with no one else in the bathroom when another man came in and used the stall right next to me. He totally forgot a separation stall"

Rob - "Ouch."

the empty feeling you feel when you realize that as of July 2011, there will be no new installments of Harry Potter, and that the Deathly Hallows is going to make you cry because it will all be over.

Person 1: "Man, I can't believe how good Deathly Hallows was."

Person 2: "Yeah, this just means I'm gonna have a bad case of Harry Potter separation anxiety now that it's over."

Seperation of Church and State

One of the best ideas to come along in all of human history. An ideal in which religion and government are seperated and kept at arm's length from each other. A form of government in which the people's free exercise of religion is guaranteed, but the religious fanatics have no power to harm others. An ideal that is under attack at all times from religious extremists - who seek to destroy it, not out of any sense of piety, but in order to dominate and control other human beings.

Since Bush became President, Seperation of Church and State is under attack like it never has been before.

separation of church and state

The seperation of church and state is implied in the 1st amendment with "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise therof." This means that the state cannot force children to go to a public school or have a state based church. This is to protect everyone's religious views to the extent it does not harm another.

Buses can take kids to parochial and public schools becuase it is in the best interest of the children to have that transportation, but it cannot require a reciting of a prayer.
