Optimistic Nihilism

You know what's great about life? It doesn't matter. I don't mean that it doesn't matter what's great about life, I mean that what's great about life is that it doesn't matter. Politics doesn't matter, aliens don't matter, black holes don't matter, we don't matter.. nothing matters. We have nothing to prove, nothing to strive for. Life is nothing, it's probably an illusion anyway. We might as well all be dead. Why care about anything? See that painting - who cares? It probably doesn't exist.. but it sure is beautiful.. See that roller coaster? Oh, who cares, there's no point anyway.. but it sure is fun.. See that human you're in love with? Who cares, they're not even real and love is an illusion! Well yeah.. but it still feels really nice and it's a lot of fun.. so why not just kick back, relax and enjoy yourself on the pointless and non-existent but undeniably awesome ride of life!
B - If I'm a Nihilist, then why am I in love with A?! -internal crisis-
E - Dude, chill. Have you heard of Optimistic Nihilism...?

Optimistic Realist

Someone who is able to look at the positive side of life while maintaining a realistic viewpoint. Although seemingly contradictory (or even possibly as an oxymoron), it clearly is not due to the fact that realism has no positive or negative association, only a focus on the realistic elements of a situation.
Craig is an optimistic realist because while he understands that in reality, negative things can happen, that there is an equal chance that positive things will happen.

Optimistic Nihilism

The knowledge that there is nothing. Everything life appears to be is but a perception. 'morals' and 'facts' are all subjective.
Despite this, the only escape provides little alternative, as that leads to the cessation of all thought. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts :)
I believe in Optimistic Nihilism. If there's nothing else out there, I still enjoy what I've got.

Optimistic Nihilism

Finding comfort in the fact that everything is meaningless
Optimistic nihilism - “Life’s a pointless game. Nobody’s here for a reason and humanity itself is insignificant. Nothing is meant to be or set in stone. No one has a purpose to their life. It’s kind of comforting and freeing, you know.. really takes a weight off your shoulders” - C

Optimistic Pessimism

Hope for the best; prepare for the worst.
Optimistic pessimism is a great way to live your life, because you can't lose.

People who argue that optimistic pessimism - or any kind of pessimism for that matter - is a self fulfilling argument are just naive irrational pseudo-philosophical hippies.

Optimistic Photography

The practice of using camera angles and strategic cropping to alter the subject of the photograph's perceived attractiveness. When used in conjunction with photo-manipulation, it can be a potent and effective means of convincing others that this individual is not fat and/or ugly.

Optimistic Photography is seen primarily in social media, most prevalently on dating sites. A person exploiting optimistic photography will use it to extract features which are unattractive, and shift attention to those which are more attractive.

When the compounding effect of alcohol is added, the mind of the drinker can confuse the earlier (first) impression of the subject with the cold, hard, unfortunate truths of reality and fact. The optimism lurks quietly in the mind of the victim.

For educational purposes only:

1) A downward camera angle can hide the volume (and thus, mass) of a person.
2) Taking a picture of oneself (close range) will also hide the shear size and volume of the subject.
3) Elongating the jaw or using unnatural facial expressions during a photograph can give the illusion of a thinner (and leaner) face. This can, in turn, alter the perception of a person's baseline attractiveness
4) A blurry picture, bright flash, or blown out contrast can also hide blemishes or wrinkles which may appear in reality.

Note: Publishing old pictures, while misleading, does not fall under this definition, but would still be considered trickery, of which optimistic photography is a form.
Oh my god, Holly looks about 100 lbs. (45 kg.) heavier than on her Myspace. Her optimistic photography almost sent me cow tipping!

I want to shake the hand of the optimistic photographer who ironed out her beat-ass face!

My blind date must have actually thought I was blind. She looks NOTHING like her optimistic profile picture!
