When you lend something to someone, and they lend that item to someone else without permission. Especially when they lend it to someone you don't know.

When in a group of friends with similar interests one is lent something, and in turn lends it to someone else, and someone else, until the owner of the lent item no longer remembers lending it/who currently has the item.
