Gerna is a sentance filler/enhancer used in Northern California dialect, specifically Humboldt County. Sometimes used at as a substitute adjective like "shitty" or "crappy". The higher excitement level, the more frequently the word appears in a sentance.

A semi canonical pairing of the characters Ludwig Beilshmidt, who is the personification of Germany and also is a fine lookin’ baked potato, and Feliciano Vargas, who is the personified Northern Italy.
