Many live in Illinois. 400,000 Assyrians in Chicago Metro Area. They live in the suburbs mostly, because, yes, they have money. How did they get money? Hard work*. They are a very dedicated, driven, hardworking group of people. They are very family oriented. Being a good Assyrian family is important. (Most) Assyrians marry Assyrians and make Assyrian babies**. This is a very good ideal they have. Not that 'mixing' is wrong, but rarely can a person say, I am 100% _____!!! Assyrians (most of them) can say I am 100% Assyrian!!! (((--From someone with personal experience, save yourself trouble, if you're not Assyrian, don't get involved with one unless you know that his/her family is Americanized, otherwise it will most likely end no good for you.--))) They can be very kind and funny, or very ignorant, stubborn, strict (as any group can be). Their women have a job, and the men have a job (I think you can guess what those jobs are). Their food is fantastic! The men are SO GORGEOUS! The women are very beautiful! God Bless! Assyrians - - - Are Awesome! !!!Go Assyrians!!!
* A quote from a Assyrian man I worked for at his liquor store, "the key to success is not only working hard, but working smart."
**A quote from my Assyrian friend regarding dating/marrying, "if you're not Assyrian, you don't have a chance with a Assyrian."

Get the Assyrianmug. The most racially mixed people in the Middle East.
Most Assyrians look Mediterranean. Though, many do look European/White and Arab/Middle Eastern. A number of them look Hispanic, too.
However, we may also find some Assyrians looking like they are half Asian. Also, some will look Indian and some will look like they are Pacific Islanders/Aboriginals.
Assyrians are people of colour.

"Hi, so...you're European?"
"No, I'm an Assyrian. I'm from Iraq. All Assyrians look different from each other. They range from pale white to dark.
"Oh, you're Middle Eastern!? You're so white.

"Are you Eurasian?"
"No, I'm an Assyrian. Not even 1% Asian. My dad looks Indian, but we're all FULLY Assyrian.

Get the Assyrianmug. A lot of Assyrians are too proud of their roots, so they love proving that Chaldeans are really Assyrians.
Let me say, if you are Chaldean, more than likely, you are historically Catholic. The name came from the Catholic church back in the 15th century to break ties Chaldeans (babylonians at the time) from their previous ties identities to other groups. Chaldeans maintain full communion with the Pope in Rome today.
But the Assyrian population is not constrained by the Catholic religion. There are many different religious affiliations with the Assyrian identity, such as the Assyrian Church of the East, Assyrian Evangelical Church, and Assyrian Pentecostal Church, to name a few.
Assyrian Catholics and Chaldean Catholics are ancient people, and chaldeans, syriacs, and assyrians came from one people and then split off into 3 groups, but both groups have evolved, so for anyone to say we are the same people are extremely ignorant.
But let's say we are all Assyrian. Taking this information from the Assyrian International News Agency (AINA), 45% of Assyrians are Chaldeans (i.e. THE MAJORITY). The Assyrian identity proponents want a majority to change their name?
Finally, as a little anecdote, as my uncle/boss was reading the article (he is around 38 years old), he asked me "what is an Assyrian?" If that doesn't clearly illustrate to you why we shoud not change our name, then I don't know what will. If a man does not even know what an Assyrian is, how can we forge through the trenches and call him an Assyrian, something he knows nothing about?
Chaldeans can unite with Assyrians not through name change; it is completely unnecessary and irrelevant. When you say "Save Christians of Iraq" that encompasses all Christians, not just Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Syriacs. "Assyrian" is NOT a great unifier. Whoever decided to start this whole Assyrian campaign is an idiot. It is offensive, unintelligent, and based on hubris. It is the sole reason that there is a division today. I'm happy that Chaldeans aren't laying down and taking everything they are being spoon fed for face value. I am one of those THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of Chaldeans.
Chaldeans seperating from Assyrians is older from the Americans seperating from the English. Does that make Americans truly English? NO.

Get the assyriansmug. Modern Assyrians. The real native people of Iraq which stretches back to Babylonia and the Ancient Assyrian empire. DNA proven!
The Assyrian community are experiencing problems throughout the world, including the native land and even throughout history. These problems starts at the hands of religion; “ the sect of Christianity” or denomination within the same people (Assyrian). Leaders in these congregations in some Chaldean Catholic Churches and the Syriac Churches are lying to the people which causing the separation and conflict in which bring forth confusion. This is why they all fight over names as some say their not the same people. Sadly… Many of the church members take the word of their leaders like it is the word of God and will do anything the church leaders tell them and don't seemed to understand that (the church leaders) is wrong. The funny thing is, many of those greatest Assyrian nationalists have come out of the Syriac and Chaldean churches despite what the church leaders have tried to do.
Another problem is there no nation along with these invaders who steals the values that belong to the Assyrians who gone through genocides agian. The third problem, the Assyrian wont last long if they don’t start uniting and have the country of their own.
To correct this statement, “The most racially mixed people in the Middle East.”
That statement is false. Modern Assyrian people are not mix and I have study this for so long! Many Assyrians that look kind a White are not always 100% modern Assyrian, instead they are proud of their Assyrian root and take it as their official heritage. In fact, Assyrians are not racially White nor Armenoid. Assyrian are generally Semitic Middle Eastern, in which there race belong to “Syrid or Arabid” not the sub-Caucasoid group like Armenoid. Assyrian are mix to the native people of the past in the Middle East or maybe little mix to Egyptians as well but with the native land, even the Assyrian with red hair! For Example. The bible descried King David as a handsome dark skin young man with red hair. So dose that make him Irish? No! The Israelites are very strict to be married outside of their tribe because of their religion against the pagan idol worshipers (non-Jews). The most racially mixed people in the Middle East are Arabs, Kurds, and Turks.
