Racial Gaslighting

Racial gaslighting is when Black, Indigenous, and people of color confront the ways they have experienced racism, and an individual, group, or institution (such as the media, legal system, or government) tries to make them doubt their experience, often to maintain control, avoid taking accountability, or conduct
normalized racial abuse.

Qualitative Gaslighting

This is when a person tells you what qualities you have, personality traits, etc. It can also be applied when someone's talking to someone else. It's even more harmful if the thing that's being said is simply untrue, and the person doing it has no idea what the person likes or enjoys.

Person: "I wanted to go skiing with your brother, but I don't know if he enjoys it"

Qualitative Gaslighter: "He loves skiing, I'll go and tell him to go with you"

The brother feels as though he now needs to portray this personality trait. Qualitative Gaslighting

Gaslighting

An easily abused buzzword that can be bounced back and forth by irresponsible or otherwise immature people use to deflect blame and accountability. Better off removed from the dictionary for the sake of a functioning society.

Person A: This wouldn't have happened if you didn't quit your job
Person B: How dare you! That's gaslighting! This wouldn't have happened if you didn't quit YOUR job!
