background character

A character in a movie or play that is meant to literally just exist. These people live normal boring lives that no one cares about and thus they exist just for development and enhancement of a scene setting. These characters could include the entire animated armies that all look exactly the same and named Joe, the elderly couple at the back table chatting over a cup of coffee, or simply a random derp blurry in the background staring off into nothing while we get to see a close up of Johnny Depp's lovely face. These people are actually the true wizards because they magically appear and reappear out of nowhere, are able to switch jobs in two frames, duplicate, and can change outfits in a matter of seconds.
Harry: *pauses movie* OMG! That background character is making the stupidest face!
Stacy: Uh...that's a mirror...

Plastic Bag Character

A Plastic Bag character is an anime character, often female, who's entire personality is to be either shy, clumsy, and can sometimes be an air head, essentially, less personality than a plastic bag. They are often a pushover who's decision making is completely dependant on what other characters think, often just going along with what other characters decide for them. Their role in their given show is that they must be protected and can never do wrong in most characters eyes; if someone actually does get mad at them, the other characters will jump to defend the Plastic Bag.

This character can often be confused for the Mary Sue character type.

Notable Plastic Bag Characters are:
Yui from Diabolik Lovers
Ema from Brother's conflict
Chiho from Devil is a Part Timer
Meiko from Digimon Tri
Toru from Fruits Basket
Young Sakura from Naruto

This term was originally created by the internet user known as Secrelight.
Ugh, this character is so annoying, they do nothing but cry and yet the other characters treat them like a precious snowflake, they're such a Plastic Bag Character.

Main Character Syndrome

When you envision yourself as the main character of the movie version of your life, highlighting the parts of yourself that would make you unique or likable. This syndrome focuses on the self more than any other person, much how movies or television have a story primarily based on one character.
Cindy has main character syndrome and am constantly imagining herself as the title role in the movie version of her life: THE UNTOLD CINDY STORY.

Cameron Diaz has main character syndrome in The Holiday when she keeps envisioning movie trailer versions of her life, with herself as the title role.

the purple character

The purple character is charismatic and alluring, but most likely only interested in themselves. They're imaginative, powerful, cunning, probably sarcastic, and most likely a villain or somehow aligned with one. They're not motivated by power, like Reds, or by intimacy, like Blue. They're quite selfish really but hey at least they're hot.
Person one: i love the blue characters, like Percy Jackson!

Person two: i like the purple characters... like Katherine from TVD. The ones that would stab me for chewing too loudly, ya know?

Person one: seek help...

Maeve: Noooo, don't go in that dark alley!!!
